Driffield Afternoon WI

Driffield Afternoon Women’s Institute has been running for just over 3 years. It is a diverse, proactive, welcoming, and friendly group for any ladies 18 years and above.  We meet on the 4th Thursday of each month, hiring the hall in the Driffield Methodist Church from 2 pm to 4 pm, where we enjoy listening to interesting speakers or doing interactive activities as well as the obligatory tea/cake and good old ‘natter’.

We also have a regular Craft Club and Coffee morning meet-ups each month, as well as other events and outings such as a visit to York, Aike Winery, Sledmere House with afternoon tea, Theatre, Fish/chips lunches and more planned for the future.

If you want to be part of a very welcoming group of like-minded ladies, come and give us a try; we have a meet ‘n’ greet lady ready to welcome you.  There is a small charge for tea/cake, plus a raffle ticket.

For more information, email DriffWIsecretary@outlook.com, or via Facebook Driffield Afternoon WI or Instagram Driffaftwi or find information in the local Driffield & Wolds Weekly newspaper.

Community work

We are also an active group within the community, having planted a silver birch tree in the Millennium Park for King Charles III’s Coronation, as well as planting fledgling trees and taking part in the Crown and Lifeboat trail around Driffield.

Fundraising

We actively fundraise through our Fashion shows, supporting independent local retailers, and have regular fundraising tombolas for the Driffield Food Bank, Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the RNLI.

We support the Climate Change Campaign yearly with green hearts in the shops on the high street and a poppy display around the Millennium clock.
