Vibrant market

Driffield has a long tradition as a market town and since 2001 has had a thriving Thursday street market based in the centre of the town. Visitors and residents alike enjoy the unique mix of national retailers and small independent shops.

The market was moved from Cross Hill car park to the town centre in August 2001 and has since grown to become the second most popular market in the East Riding, following Beverley.

Traders come from both local areas and farther afield, offering a diverse range of products, including ladies’ clothing, handbags, diffusers, sweets, fresh fruits and vegetables, outdoor plants and fresh flowers, gifts, toys, cheese, olives, pies, fresh bread, craft beers, and much more. During the summer season, you can expect to see at least 20 stalls.

Varied stalls

The market operates as a “one-line” market, meaning that there is only one stall selling each specific type of product, which ensures a good variety. The Town Council also provides local community groups and charities with the opportunity to raise funds by hiring the charity stall, which has become very popular.

Managed by the Town Council, the market has been developed to work in partnership with local shops and now plays a vital role in the town’s vitality. For more information, please contact the Town Development Officer at –tdo@driffieldtowncouncil.gov.uk.
