I have lived in Driffield all my life and always dreamed of once having my own sweet shop.
I opened in December 2017 and was a Handbag and accessories. In mid 2018 I began selling gifts and jewellery. When the sugar shack closed I realised there was a need for traditional sweets and kids penny sweets.
The rest is history. I have never looked back. I have a lot of customers who come in every week for their usual sweet treat and some come in every day. I get a lot of kids in after school, and I must admit they are a credit to their parents as they are all so polite, which is lovely to hear.
I also make handmade items for special occasions, such as birth, marriage and other memorable occasions.
If anyone needs anything that little bit different I will always try to get it for them.
I have also done lots of party bags and sweet trees for table centres.
All of the profits go to charity and it’s a way of giving back, it links to my Theatre group who also do everything for local charities. Between the shop and their group we have raised well over £7000. I look for to the future and hope to do so much more.
